Protecting your data and the data of the people in your photos matters to us. The apps PassportPhotoPrintHero (Standard) and PassportPhotoPrintHero Pro (together “the App”) follow the principles of “privacy by design” and “privacy by default”: they process all images exclusively on your Mac. This policy covers the App and the website passportphotoprinthero.foto-huwi.ch.

2. The App: processing on your Mac only

The App runs in the macOS App Sandbox and has no permission to access the network. It therefore cannot send any data over the internet – neither to us nor to anyone else. There is no user account, no registration, no advertising and no analytics or tracking service.

What the App processes

• Portraits you open: The App only reads images that you select or drag into its window. Portraits may contain biometric features. Face detection and background removal use the built-in macOS frameworks (Vision) and run entirely on your device.
• Saved files: Passport photos and print sheets are saved only to the location you choose in the save dialog.
• Settings: The selected format, favorites, recently used formats, language, unit of measurement and print settings, as well as whether the Pro upgrade is unlocked, are stored locally in the App's protected container.
• Recently opened images: So that you can reopen images via “Open Recent”, the App stores a reference (a macOS security-scoped bookmark) to those files locally – not a copy of the images.
• Custom formats (Pro or with the Pro upgrade only): Formats you edit, add or import stay on your Mac. They are exported only when you choose to do so.
• Printing: When you print, the App hands the print sheet to the macOS printing system and to the printer you choose.

All of this data stays on your Mac. You can delete it at any time by deleting the files concerned or by uninstalling the App.

3. Photos of other people

If you edit portraits of other people – for example as a photographer or photo shop – you are responsible for that data. Because the App does not transmit any data to us, we have no access to those images.

4. Purchase and download via the Mac App Store

The App is distributed exclusively through the Mac App Store operated by Apple Inc. Apple handles purchase, payment, download and updates under its own privacy policy. The same applies to the Pro upgrade, which can be bought as an in-app purchase in the Standard edition: macOS handles the purchase directly with the App Store. The App only learns whether the upgrade has been purchased and does not transmit any images or other content. We do not receive any payment data from Apple. Apple provides us with aggregated sales and download figures that do not identify individuals. If you have agreed in macOS settings to share analytics with app developers, Apple also passes on anonymized crash reports, which we use solely to fix bugs. You can withdraw this consent in macOS at any time.

5. This website

Hosting and server log files

The website is hosted by cyon GmbH in Basel, Switzerland. When a page is requested, the server records technically necessary information in log files: IP address, date and time, requested page, amount of data transferred, referring page, and browser and operating system. This information is used to operate the website securely and reliably, based on our legitimate interest. The log files are deleted automatically after a short period and are not combined with other data.

No cookies, no tracking

The website does not set cookies, does not use analytics or advertising services and does not embed any third-party content. Fonts, images and scripts are served exclusively from our own server. The website's small script only provides navigation features (menu, image gallery and language choice) and does not store anything.

Links to other websites

Links to the Mac App Store or to Apple lead to Apple's websites. Apple is responsible for any data processing there.

6. Contact by email

If you email us, we use your details (email address, name, content of your message) only to answer your request. We delete the correspondence once it is no longer needed, unless statutory retention obligations apply. Our email is also hosted by cyon GmbH in Switzerland.

7. Your rights

Depending on the law that applies to you, you have the right to access the data we hold about you and to have it corrected, deleted or restricted, to data portability and to object to processing. Please contact us at the email address above. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority.

Because the App does not transmit any data to us, we hold no personal data about your use of the App. You manage and delete App data directly on your Mac.

8. U.S. privacy rights (CCPA/CPRA)

We do not sell or share personal information, and we do not use personal information for targeted advertising.

9. Children

The App is intended for adults creating passport photos. We do not knowingly collect data from children; the App does not transmit any data in any case.

10. Changes

We update this policy when the App, the website or the legal situation changes. The version published here applies. In case of discrepancies between the German and the English version, the German version prevails for users in Switzerland and the EU.
